Clay has served as pastor at Momeyer since September 2018. Clay was born and raised in Morganton, NC in the foothills of the mountains. He surrendered to God’s call on his life to ministry at the age of 17. He met his wife, Kelly at Burkemont Baptist Church and they were married there in 1998. Clay was trained (BA in Biblical Studies and MDiv in Christian Education) at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
Clay and Kelly have lived in Nash County since 2001 and they have ministered at 2 previous churches. Clay served as Associate Pastor at both Red Oak Baptist Church (2001-2006) and NorthSide Community Church (2006-2018).
Clay and Kelly are blessed to raise 2 sons, Brayden (2003) and Elison (2004). Their first son, Camden (2002) was stillborn at full-term and has been living in the presence of Jesus since.
Pastor Clay loves to coach basketball at Faith Christian School, watch baseball, play golf and volunteer in and through many organizations throughout the Nash County area. He is a 2020 alum of Tar Heel Leadership and says the experience "was the most beneficial training and sharpening of ministry skills" he has ever had.
